Cookie Policy
Last updated: 23 September 2026
This policy explains what this website stores on your device, why, and how long it stays. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers what we do with personal information more generally.
The short version: nothing optional runs until you say yes. We would like to use Google Analytics to see how the site is used, and you are asked about that when you arrive. There is no advertising, no remarketing and nothing that follows you across other websites, whatever you choose.
What a cookie is, briefly
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between one page and the next. The law also covers anything else stored on or read from your device in the same way, such as local storage, so this policy uses cookie to mean all of it.
The rules distinguish between storage that is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for, which does not need your permission, and everything else, which does. Everything on this site today falls into the first group.
What is stored
Two groups: what is strictly necessary, which needs no permission, and analytics, which runs only if you turn it on.
- Cloudflare security and performance. Strictly necessary. Our host may set a small number of cookies to serve the site, keep it available and tell real visitors apart from automated traffic. They do not identify you and they are not used for tracking or advertising. Typically these last from the length of your visit up to about a month.
- The anti-spam check on our forms. Strictly necessary. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell a person from an automated script, so that the form you chose to use is not abused. It stores against challenges.cloudflare.com rather than this website, and it is not used to track you.
- Your cookie choice. The answer you give is stored in a cookie named certa_consent for 182 days, so you are not asked again on every page. It records what you chose, when, and which version of this policy you were shown. Nothing else. It is set only if you answer.
- Google Analytics, only if you turn it on. We load Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager to see which pages are read, how far people scroll and whether anything is slow or broken. It sets cookies beginning _ga and _gid, which last up to two years and 24 hours respectively, and it sends some information about your visit, including your IP address, to Google. If you refuse, or later change your mind, nothing is loaded and anything it set is deleted.
- Microsoft Clarity, only if you turn it on, and covered by the same Analytics choice. Clarity records what happens on the page, so that a visit can be replayed as a session and shown on a heatmap of clicks and scrolling. It stores an identifier on your device to tell one visit from the next, and it sends that recording to Microsoft. It is set to mask what you type, so form contents are not captured. If you refuse, or later change your mind, nothing is loaded and anything it set is deleted.
What is not here
This list is longer than the one above, and it is the useful part, because most sites cannot say it.
- No analytics at all unless you turn it on. Google Analytics is the only measurement on this site, it is off by default, and refusing it costs you nothing.
- No advertising, remarketing or conversion pixels. Nothing from Meta, LinkedIn or Google Ads. We tell Google explicitly that advertising storage is denied, whatever you choose about analytics.
- No chat widget, and no embedded map or video.
- No fonts loaded from anyone else's servers. Our fonts are served from this site, which matters because loading a font from a font provider would disclose your IP address to them before you had agreed to anything.
- No social media buttons that load code from the platform. The links in our footer are ordinary links and set nothing until you follow them.
The forms on this site
The enquiry form sends what you type to us over the internet when you press send. It sets no cookies of its own, but it does use the Cloudflare anti-spam check described above. There is more detail about what happens to your details in our Privacy Policy.
The customer support forms work differently: they place the details into a new message in your own email program, and you send that message yourself.
If this changes
If we add anything that is not strictly necessary, such as website analytics, this policy is updated first and a cookie banner appears asking you before it loads. Nothing non-essential will run on the basis of you having visited, scrolled or ignored a message.
You would then be able to change your mind at any time using a Cookie settings button in the footer of every page, and turning something off deletes what it set.
Controlling cookies yourself
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can do that whether or not a site offers its own controls. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of a site working, though on this site there is very little to break.
If you have a question about any of this, email us at info@certamps.co.uk.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy at least once a year, and whenever we add or remove anything that stores information on your device. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
27 August 2026: first full policy, replacing the placeholder page.
23 September 2026: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity added behind a cookie banner, so a choice is now offered on arrival. The enquiry form now sends to us over the internet and uses an anti-spam check, and both are described above.
